I’m a poet, product leader, and lifelong learner who believes we can create a better future together.

While I’ve found a strong fit operating as a product manager, there are three significant phases of my career that would benefit this role particularly well.

  1. I spent 11 years collaborating with university professors to design and develop online courses when that was a controversial idea. I honed skills in curriculum design and student engagement while shaping, editing, and assembling the learning content we delivered to students around the world. I’ve always been a teacher at heart and this allowed me to combine teaching and technology to explore innovations at the time.
  2. In my role as Communications Director for a global nonprofit I led a team that integrated design thinking and communications strategy. I worked with others to create a leadership development program that brought emotional intelligence insights to community leaders around the world.
  3. I then brought my anthropology and design skills to UX and Product Design at G2.com, collaborating closely with product and engineering teams to deliver some amazing features and enhancements. It was a natural step for me to move into product management and bring my experiences in design and development to lead teams in Agile environments.

I’m drawn to Agile environments because of my emphasis on continuous learning. As a product manager, I empathize, inspire vision, solve problems, and lead teams into high performance. This requires trust, collaboration, a coaching leadership style, and continuous learning.

Highlighted Strengths

  • Versatility and innovation. I have a strong growth mindset and learn quickly and constantly. This allows me to be successful across many different problem spaces, teams, and industries. I always look for ways to improve—myself, my teams, and our products. Even as we evolve our product and tactically execute our roadmap, it’s crucial that we spend time observing the “edges” to understand connected industry trends, customer challenges, and opportunities for innovation.
  • Collaboration and execution. I’ve collaborated with many individuals and teams to align strategy and execution. My hands-on experience in engineering and DevOps, UX design and DesignOps, product management and ProductOps helps me understand different perspectives. Strong communication is key internally and externally. I’m an accomplished public speaker, facilitator, workshop leader, mentor and coach. I continue to serve as coach and mentor to newer product managers and celebrate their growth.
  • Actionable insights. The same principles that make great companies make great products—strong principles and values, observable data, trusted and actionable insights, strong foundations and infrastructure for empowered decision-making, high performance, and value. I’ve seen the way good decisions in DevOps, DesignOps, and ProductOps create high performance in organizational systems, and I’ve helped establish and strengthen some of those practices at past companies. I’ve learned a lot from IDEO’s Design Thinking to empathize with customers and seek insights that are hard for them to articulate. Continuous Discovery methods help identify and document ongoing opportunities and solutions that can be prioritized and validated with users.
  • Agile Mindset. I’ve excelled at implementing and executing Agile (and particularly Scrum) methodologies at multiple fast-paced companies. Each has had a unique flavor because Agile is a mindset more than a set of particular practices. I’ve performed all functions of Product Owner and Scrum Master and am comfortable operating at a high level across those practices—wherever necessary for the team to thrive. I’ve established such practices with teams that are just starting out and seen them become autonomous, high-performing teams. I’ve pioneered unique Product Development Lifecycle frameworks, product documentation templates and practices for aligning and communicating from strategy to launch.

This required close interaction with students and faculty as well as an understanding of curriculum design and technological advancements in the delivery of courses—from multimedia production to package design to Internet-based application development. I also worked collaboratively to create a unique course tutor model based partly on well-studied educational structures at Oxford and Cambridge Universities. After qualifying I also took on a part-time role as a course tutor, giving me valuable empathetic experience to propose iterative changes to improve faculty and student outcomes.
